Dear Spring Creek Families…

Well, it appears as though I was a bit ahead of myself last week, hoping for a bit of a thaw. However, despite the crisp mountain air, the sunshine does wonders to boost the spirits.

A quick reminder that tomorrow, February 14th, all school district 48 staff are participating in the District’s Implementation Day. Two locations are scheduled to host the event (Don Ross Middle School and Pemberton Secondary School) where the focus of the day will be to learn more about local Indigenous perspectives, language and culture. As a result, there is no school for students tomorrow.

This week saw a highly successful bake-sale put on by Mme. Kar and Mme. Elizabeth’s class. Many thanks to the parents and students for their contributions to the many great treats offered.

On Wednesday, Ms. Smith and Ms. Young’s classes went to cheer on the athletes at the Invictus Games. We were well represented as students cheered on the athletes while learning about the recovery pathways for internationally wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women.

On Tuesday, SCE Grade 4/5 Boys basketball team is hosting a home game and are planning an away game to Signal Hill Elementary on March 3. The team has been practicing hard during lunch on Tuesdays and would like to thank “Coach Josh” for getting them ready for what’s sure to be an exciting time on the courts.

As well on Tuesday, Ms. Kar and Ms. Lamothe’s classes are heading to the Callaghan for some XC Skiing and on Friday, we have a presentation from WorkSafe BC called “Find Your Fit”. This is for Grades 5, 6, and 7 and is an event with activities specific to helping support student career exploration.
