Sep 20, 2024 - Spring Creek Communicator

Spring Creek Communicator Friday, Sep 20, 2024.

What an amazing week we had! Thursday, the sun was shining as our students took off on the Annual Terry Fox Run! From Kindergarten to Grade 7 all the students had great school spirit and tried their best! Younger students completed the nature trail around the school, while primary students made it all the way to Millar’s Pond the intermediates ran, walked and jogged to Bayshore’s! Well Done Everyone! A huge thank you to Melissa Smith for organizing; to all the parent volunteers who made the event possible; to the RCMP for being out on the course, and a special thank you to Ella and Aidan, our Rabbits leading the way! Our school raised $230 towards Cancer Research. We thank everyone for bringing in their donations.

Thank you Spring Creek families, for a wonderful evening at the Welcome Back Barbeque Open House! It was fun to see families mingling in the bleachers and children playing in the playground. What a nice touch to have the hot lunch food sampling with Chef Glenn; the “trade fair” tables for the chance to see The Card Project with Ms. Palmer; the Spirit Wear from Natalie and Kyle from Whistler Shirts, and for the chance to connect with Whistler Community Services. It takes a village! We appreciate you!

Don’t forget to scroll down to see how you can take part in making these great events happen at Spring Creek!

Friendly Reminders:

We have received about 80% of our student’s School Supply fees - thank you! If you aren’t sure if you have paid - please double check your School Cash Online account to see if anything is outstanding. If you are having any issues with your account, or you would prefer to pay by cash or cheque, please email [email protected].

SD 48 is inviting you to do a survey created by Bakau Consulting on diversity, equity, and inclusion, which is open from Wednesday, September 11, 2024, to Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Your support in completing the survey will be crucial in ensuring we collect valuable feedback to guide the district’s efforts toward a more inclusive environment.

Health Link BC is your portal to find a local family doctor or nurse practitioner who can support your everyday health care needs. Translated in 130 languages and with access for those who are deaf and hard of hearing, the registry is available online or by calling 8-1-1 health link. Please open the link to the Health Connect Registry for full details.

Safety items:

Please be reminded that we do not allow people to ride bikes and scooters on the school grounds. Once you arrive on the property, it is important to either lock up bikes and scooters at the bike racks or walk them. It is important for adults picking up children to follow the same guideline for the safety of your children. Thank you for helping us stay safe!

Please help spread the word that we are experiencing challenges with people not picking up after their dog. It is another health and safety item we currently need help with from the community. It really contributes to the health and safety of your children if people pick up after their dogs, especially where children play on a daily basis.

Looking ahead:

September 24 Taiko Drumming

September 26 Truth and Reconciliation activities at school

September 27 Professional Development Day, no school in session.

September 30 National Day of Truth and Reconciliation no school in session.

October 1 Cross Country meet (district).
