Apr 25 2025 - Spring Creek Communicator

Dear Spring Creek Families,

It’s hard to believe it’s almost May!

This week had the WSS students visit our school again to work with the Grade 7 students on their transition to the high school next year. They continue to provide great answers to questions most Grade 7 students have about what it’s like at high school, helping to easy any anxiety and boost the excitement of this next step in their learning journey. Many Thanks to Ms. Hanbury and Ms. Smith, Mme. Kar and Mme. Elizabeth for bringing these groups together.

Thursday saw Michael Allen present to the school on Bear Awareness. This is particularly timely given this is when we typically see the bears out and about foraging for a long overdue meal. We ask that families remain vigilant and keep an eye out for them, giving them the space they need to go about their “business”.

Friday is Pitch-In Day! This a community-wide clean-up event that embodies the spirit of local involvement and collective environmental action. Volunteers from across Whistler come together to tidy up neighborhoods, demonstrating the power of community efforts in maintaining and enhancing our local environment. SCE is happy to be part of this initiative while learning the importance of keeping our community and natural resources pristine.

Coming Up…

Monday Apr 28 – Student Vote

Thursday May 1 - Braden Hallett Author/Illustrator presentation for Grades 2-4

Wednesday May 7 – Grade 6 Immunizations

Friday May 9 – School Not in Session (School Based Pro-D)
Tuesday May 13 - Track & Field Day for Grades 4-7

Thursday May 15 - Whole School Photo / Class Photo Day

Pa-Moja Club is holding a raffle to win gorgeous Kenyan animal T-Shirts. Tickets are only $3.00!  The T-Shirts cost $25 so it is a good deal to buy a raffle ticket and win one. Pa-Moja Club is raising funds to pay for a bursary for a student in Kenya to attend school. It costs about $1,000 per year for a student to board at the school and attend classes. Our bursary students would only complete grade 8 without financial support.

If you are interested in purchasing a raffle ticket, they can be purchased through Ms. Young for $3.00.

This week’s puzzle is a math one. See below!

On behalf of the staff at SCE, have a wonderful weekend.

Kind Regards,

Nolan Cox

Honored to be working, learning, and playing on the traditional, unceded, ancestral territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, Úxwumixw and St’át’imc Nations.
