Greetings Spring Creek families!
It has been another week of fun play out in the snow, this week in milder temperatures for sure! The cross-country ski days have been such a treat, with still some more classes to go in the coming weeks.
We would like to extend HUGE congratulations to the mixed, grade 6-7 volleyball team for winning the championships, breaking the tied scores in a final round. The trophy is displayed in the trophy case at the entrance. Come take a look! Thank you to all the coaches, assistants, parents and all involved in making this happen!
Family literacy day was a hit! Thank you to families who attended! We love the community connections and hosting families in the school setting.
Some important dates ahead:
*A friendly reminder there is NO hot lunch Monday, January 29. This date was not part of your lunch orders but we wish to remind you so you can make other plans for your child’s lunch on that day.
Thursday February 8th
PARENT SESSION: SOCIAL MEDIA AWARENESS, DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP, AND CYBERBULLYING
This is an important, and much needed event as part of a series, which we are delivering to parents, staff and students in order to create a better digital world, which in turn has an influence on our real world and social learning environments. Please, take a look here.
Students and staff will also attend sessions on healthy digital citizenship so we can be a team in the learning. Ask your intermediate-age child to share what they have learned after their session at school February 12th.
February 7, 14, 21 Supporting Our Teens and Pre-teens in mental health, emotional support, effective coping skills. These sessions, designed for families, are hosted by Whistler Community Services and Vancouver Coastal Health. Information is in the link here
February 15 @5 pm Spring Creek Movie Night by Pamoja club
February 16 Implementation Day, professional development, school not in session.

HOT LUNCH - ORDERING DEADLINE IS THIS SUNDAY JANUARY 28th!!!!
The hot lunch Fall 2023/Winter 2024 session will be wrapping up this coming week. Ordering for the Winter/Spring session is available until this Sunday (January 28th).

PUBLIC PAC MEETING - TUESDAY JANUARY 30th 8:45 - 9:45
Please join the PAC exec team this coming Tuesday as well as Principal Karen LaRochelle for an update on all that is happening at SCCS.
We will be meeting in classroom 169 (on the lower level of the school).
We will have coffee and donuts!!!!
BC AGRICULTURE IN THE CLASSROOM - DELIVERY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
SCCS and ELP receive a monthly delivery of fresh fruit or veggies and milk as part of the BC Agriculture in the Classroom program (you can find additional details here https://www.bcaitc.ca/).

The deliveries take approx. 30 mins to distribute and it is done during long recess.
