This Earth Day, the Sea to Sky School District joins communities around the world in honouring our shared responsibility to protect the planet. Through the recent adoption of Policy 109: Environmental Sustainability, the Board affirms its commitment to sustainable practices, environmental education, and the conservation of resources. Rooted in Truth and Reconciliation, the policy recognizes the vital role of Traditional Ecological Knowledge and the interconnection between people and nature. As Spring Break approaches, we want to share a friendly reminder from Vancouver Coastal Health about keeping your family's vaccinations up to date. With travel plans ahead, it’s a good time to check immunization records and ensure everyone is protected. The attached memo provides helpful information on measles and pertussis (whooping cough), along with resources for booking vaccinations if needed. Ramadan, a sacred month of fasting, reflection, and community in Islam, begins on the evening of Friday, February 28, 2025, and ends on the evening of Saturday, March 29, 2025. During this time, many Muslim students and staff in the Sea to Sky School District will observe fasting from dawn to sunset, along with prayer and spiritual devotion. Ramadan is a time of generosity, self-discipline, and growth. We encourage our school community to learn more about this important tradition and celebrate the diversity that enriches our district. We have included a video you can share with your children about why fasting is an important part of some religions—wishing peace, love, and harmony to all. Ramadan Mubarak!
